You know how I like to reflect on my degree of self-love this time of year.
Like many of us, I’ve had times when I struggled with loving myself and my body.
There are both positive and negative messages out there regarding our body image and self-esteem, and it’s up to us to filter out the healthy messages that serve us.
It’s a topic worth exploring, and it’s why self-love is our theme this month at The Mindful Maven Book Club (Party!).
And it’s age-old wisdom:
When we truly love ourselves,
we’re more able to fully love others.
In addition to the book I recommend in the video, here are a few of my favorite ways to put that wisdom into practice, and I’d love to hear yours!
- Daily entries in my gratitude journal. Taking time to appreciate the beauty of life and those I love, reminds me, much to the ego’s dismay, that life just isn’t about my insecurities or perceived issues. In other words, gratitude is an essential cure for a temporary case of victimhood. 😉
- Reading daily from inspiring books. In just over a year’s time reading a book a week in psychology/personal development, I’ve noticed a dramatic difference in my overall confidence, and therefore my self-love. I consider this the best piece of free advice I ever received, from my dear mentor, Brendon Burchard, and I love passing it on because it’s been so empowering to me.
- Starting my day with my passion. I begin my days at the piano, before or after some light yoga. The great high achievers will tell you, we’re freshest in the mornings after a great night’s sleep, (and yes, if you’re human, we need 7-9 hours each night ~ the research is unanimous!) so I make time for my favorite creative outlet before I swing into entrepreneur mode.
It’s an act of self-love to be sure I give these gifts to myself every day.
And in the words of Oscar Wilde:
So how will YOU love + honor yourself during the month of love?

Wishing you tremendous amounts of self-love this Valentine’s Day.
You deserve every bit.
